Who is Bret Michaels’ wife? His love life detailed

Bret Michaels stormed to fame as the frontman of the rock band Poison, which sold millions of records worldwide. Michaels also pursued a solo career, releasing several successful albums, including the soundtrack album to the 1998 film A Letter from Death Row. The multi-talented star also appeared in several TV and film productions.

Michaels has faced several health complications over the years, including a warning stroke caused by a hole in the heart and a hemorrhage that almost killed him.

Bret relied on support from his then-girlfriend, Kristi Lynn Gibson, to get him through the tough times. The couple got engaged but didn’t make it to marriage.

Bret Michaels proposed to his long-time girlfriend, Kristi Gibson, in December 2010. The world watched Michaels ask for Gibson’s hand in marriage during an episode of the reality show Bret Michaels: Life As I Know ItBret told Gibson:

“I love you, and you’ve been unbelievably a big part of my life, and we have two beautiful girls together. I know we love and respect each other, and I hope that we can find that inner love that we have forever. And I want you to be my wife.”

“Please say yes, or the rejection will kill me right now,” Bret added. Gibson and Michaels had dated on and off for nearly sixteen years before Bret proposed. Gibson said she thought Michaels would never propose.

The pair shared the moment with their two daughters, Raine and Jorja. “I did it!” Bret told the kids. “We’ll all be together forever! Family guy!”

Michaels’ prediction didn’t come true as the pair called off their engagement in July 2012. “Although the couple have separated, they remain great friends and are committed to jointly raising their two daughters,” a rep for Bret told People

At the end of season 1 of Rock of Love, Michaels chose Jes Rickleff, a makeup artist. However, their romance didn’t last long after the first episode. Amber Lake won season 2, but again, the relationship ended shortly after the series ended.

“I still love her,” Bret told People. “She was just out with me a couple days ago and we were having a great time. She’s really got it. I think she’s great.”

In season 3 of Rock of Love, the contestants joined Michaels on tour to see if they could deal with the challenges of the rockstar’s lifestyle. Taya Parker won, but her relationship with Bret eventually crumbled.

Michaels told People that his schedule gets in the way of long-term romances, which is probably why he’s never tied the knot. He explained:

“The reason for the destruction of all my relationships is that I’m passionate about being on the road and making music. The women I date don’t realize that I spend between 6 and 8 months of my life on the road – touring or traveling or seeing family with my daughters.”
